Ventura Holidays at the Plaza Through Jan. 2
will feature more than 100 fresh-cut, decorated, twinkling trees all over the park. These trees will become the Candy Cane Forest, and thousands of locals and visitors will peruse them through the month of December andinto January.

Free Hands-on Drip Irrigation Workshop Jan. 12
Free Hands-on Drip Irrigation and Sprinkler Conversion workshops are now available monthly to all Simi Valley residents, from September 2018 to May 2019. Workshops will be held on the second Saturday of every month. Workshop attendees will work in small groups with Master Gardeners to assemble and install a single irrigation system. Boney Mountain Trail Run Jan. 13
This event is the Grand Daddy of the series, not for the faint of heart, but if you dare to enter, you’ll experience some of the most scenic back country in the Santa Monica Mountains. Fins, Flippers & Fun 5K Jan. 20
A flat, fast, fun run benefiting Channel Islands Marine and Wildlife Institute (CIMWI). CIMWI is a non-profit organization that rescues and rehabilitates marine mammals in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Nun Run 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run Feb. 2
Hosted by The Sisters of Notre Dame and La Reina High School and Middle School. There will also be a Community Service Fair this year. The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and ability levels. Each participant will receive a free t-shirt (while supplies last), special offers from our sponsors and a delicious pancake breakfast after the race. All proceeds will support the Sisters of Notre Dame Life and Ministry Fund, which allows the sisters to continue their various ministries in the LA and Ventura counties.

Groundhog Day 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run Feb. 2
Benefiting Moorpark High School’s cross country and track programs. All ages and abilities are welcome including walkers and strollers and in the spirit of Groundhog Day, costumes are encouraged. There will also be a “Catch the Groundhog” 1 mile fun run for kids 11 and under which will be held on the track with finisher medals for all.

President Reagan’s Birthday Celebration Feb. 6
The Commanding General at United States Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton will conduct the ceremony, which will commence at 11:00am with a music prelude beginning at 10:30am by the Camp Pendleton Marine Division Band. Lantern Street Festival Feb. 16
Over 7,500 lanterns will light up the streets and provide the backdrop for an evening of inspiration and fun. Hold on, we need your help! Attendees are responsible for lighting and decorating their lanterns and hanging them on the tunnels. Each adult ticket comes with a free lantern. Seaside Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K and 10K Feb. 17
Bike path leads you onto HWY-1 beachfront bike path. Runners will stay on the bike path or shoulder (ocean side) along the entire route. Turn around at the designated turnaround point at approx 6.55 mile mark and back towards the finish line the same way you came out. Marathon course does the out and back twice.  7am-12pm
